I said goodbye to Tyler and Michael and continued on towards Wolf Creek Pass.\u00a0 The terrain and trail were interesting and beautiful, but I am so tired.\u00a0 I run out of gas and all I wanted to do was stop and rest.\u00a0 And then I would get bored and feel guilty for wasting time so I put my pack back on and the cycle repeats. And today is a town day! I really want to get this morning done so I can get some rest and real food. You would think I could just buck up and get it over with but I’m on empty and mentally done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After much willpower I finally made it and descended to Wolf Creek Pass. I tried to hitch for maybe 10 minutes when I heard someone yell. I looked across the highway and a guy next to the Wolf Creek Pass sign was gesturing for me to come over. I grabbed my pack and ran across the highway to the pullout and he said he would give me a ride. We loaded up and he dropped me off near the start of Pagosa Springs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately, my hotel was on the west side of town, and Pagosa Springs is really spread out with a big undeveloped section in the middle. I saw a pizza restaurant across the street (Mountain Pizza and Taproom) so I went over there and had lunch. The lady working there suggested calling Pagosa Cab for a ride, so I did that. Within about 15 minutes the friendly cab lady showed up and gave me a ride to my hotel (several miles away).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Right next to the Pagosa Inn were several restaurants – Colorado Roadhouse, Ramon’s Mexican, McDonalds, and Thai Pagosa.\u00a0 I ate at all of them over the next two days.\u00a0 The hotel was nice but this end of town is fairly remote and quiet.\u00a0 I saw no other hikers, no hiker boxes, and I miss the company of other hikers.\u00a0 But it was really nice to rest up here. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
