I arose early from my campsite at Morning Star campground and started heading up Pitamakan pass.\u00a0 I was on top before I knew it and started the 8 miles to Two Medicine.\u00a0 The wind is blowing like crazy up here and it will be good to get down into the shelter of some trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I arrived at Two Medicine somewhere around lunchtime. I had planned on spending the night here at a walk-in campsite, but once again I got the runaround by the same unhelpful ranger who gave me my itinerary a week ago. I know there is a hiker-only campsite here but I really don’t feel like wandering around trying to find someone who knows what they are doing. Instead I decided to go to the General Store, have some food, and reconnoiter a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After lunch I felt pretty good and decided to finish the last 10 miles over Scenic Point into East glacier.\u00a0\u00a0This would make for a 20 mile day and two large passes, but it was only 1:00 pm, so I got started. The wind was blowing pretty strong with scattered hail but the views were amazing. I saw several day hikers all returning back to their cars at Two Medicine since it is getting later in the day. I also saw several mountain sheep near Scenic Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Scenic point the trail is pretty exposed as it winds down the front of the range towards East Glacier far below. The last 3 miles are across Blackfeet land, for which they require a permit that I did not have.\u00a0 I kept thinking they were watching for trespassers via high powered telescopes from down below and they were going to come roaring up on ATV’s to write me a ticket, so I tried to keep low and out of site below the ridge lines. Fortunately I sneaked through undetected and rolled into East Glacier around 6:00 pm.\u00a0 At this point I have completed my northern section and all I have to do now is Anaconda to Ghost Ranch!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I ran into Eeyore once again at Brownies as I was walking back into town.\u00a0 He stayed the week I was gone and finished his hike through Glacier.\u00a0 We had dinner again at Serranos and I was very sad to hear that he wasn’t going to finish his CDT thru-hike. He said he was worn out and had no enthusiasm to continue. We had breakfast at the diner the next morning and I walked with him to the train station to buy his ticket home.
