We transitioned from rolling hills to desert and mesas today with beautiful scenery and views.  Mesas and cinder cones and mountains as far as you can see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We did 18 miles today and met Wilder, Abby, Strawman, Eagle Cow, and another guy at Los Frio spring.  They were all very nice but these guys are young and hauling. 35 miles per day!  I will probably never see them again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edit: Never say never. I ran into Wilder near the Wall in Montana months later. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we were getting ready to leave Caroline (Sweets) showed up. We showed her where we got our water and visited while her bottles slowly filled.  She is from Australia and I first met her at the Toaster House. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The desert flowers are beautiful.  Some sort of white buttercup, and cactus flowers and yucca flowers which I think only open at night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took a wrong turn today which ended up costing me 1.5 miles.  Grrr… We are camped in a wash near the top of a sandstone mesa.  I would have preferred to keep going, but Pat wanted to stop here.  My tent barely fits in the wash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
